Canada Day - London

Every year in London there is a Canada Day celebration in Trafalgar square that includes all things "Canadian" and all the Canadian's in London congregate together and show our national pride.

Things Canadian include Mounties, Tim Hortons, Canadian beer (Sleeman's and Moosehead), Canadian wine, the Canada shop sells their Canadian goodies (dill pickle chips, and various chocolate bars and candies), and Bison Burgers?! (must be a western Canada thing!).

There is a floor hockey tournament, a stage with various singers from Canada, and of course the grand finale, my favourite part, singing O'Canada.

Kim and I, Kim was living in London in 2008.

Canada - Wedding

I never planned to go home to Canada every year, but when an invitation arrived from an old friend for her wedding I knew that I couldn't miss it, I would be home again in 2009.  As a bonus I would be home for Canada Day and it would be summer so I could look forward to a day or two at the beach.

The happy couple.

Catching up with an old friend who moved out West years ago.

The tan is from Turkey, the weather in NS did not cooperate one bit, no beach for me.

Nicole's dress was amazing, and she looked radiant, she really did.

The gang, just like the old days (am I sounding old?).

The day after the wedding lunch on the waterfront.

Back to Canada for another visit.

As soon as my sister left I was off to Canada for a visit home.  Going home this time around meant catching up with everyone, eating as much as I could at my favourite restaurants, shopping for things I can't get in London. As well I try purging more of my stuff that is in storage around town at friends and Dad's as well as bringing back stuff I miss having with me in London, things I can fit in my bags anyway.

My Dad and I.

Girls night out. Really they are more fun than the look ;)

Dad's Cottage.

A little paddle down the lake.

Beaver hut on the lake.  I have never seen the beaver though.

A little quality time with my Tweasel. She is very content at Shannon and Joel's with lots of space and windows to see out of.

One of the beautiful old homes that can still be found, this one has been kept up very well as an Inn. I love the old Maritime style of houses.

First visit home.

Attempt number 2 to go home was successful. After getting the doctor's ok that I could fly off I went. This ticket was booked to either bring me home if London wasn't working or to finalize things such as selling my car and making the move more permanent. Despite ending up in the hospital and having a couple of shaky starts in the flat department London was under my skin and I was loving every minute.

Below are some photos of the things that make my home town great.

A visit with Tweasel at Shannon and Joel's who were kindly fostering her until I could find a cat friendly flat in London.  I got a bit of the old cold shoulder from her.

The good old Town Clock in Halifax.

The Economy Shoe Shop, a bar I really like.

Boats out in the harbour. Summer stuck around for my late visit, which I was very happy about.

The lake I grew up on, kayaking, swimming, skating, fireworks - Fantastic!

Banook lake is used for world class boating championships.
